Description
Risen From The Dark is a significant original contemporary painting by the award-winning artist Simon Kenny. Standing at an imposing 161 x 100 cm, this vertical oil on canvas is a visceral enquiry into the “Radical Turneresque,” capturing a profound moment of light breaking through a dense, textured atmosphere.
In this composition, Kenny explores the tension between shadow and illumination. The work features a towering column of light that appears to surge upwards from a dark, complex base, suggesting themes of resilience, awakening, and renewal. True to his signature style, the piece invites an individual and deeply personal experience; it is not merely a depiction of a skyscape, but an emotional journey rendered in oil. The monumental verticality of the canvas amplifies this sense of “ascent,” making the viewer feel small in the face of a cosmic event.
Gallery Perspective and Architectural Integration Given its 161 cm height, Risen From The Dark is a premier choice for high-impact architectural placements. It is specifically designed to activate double-height voids, grand stairwells, or primary focal walls in minimalist luxury residences. The work’s ability to “draw the eye upwards” makes it a favoured selection for art advisors and interior designers seeking to add a sense of spiritual or emotional height to a project.
As Simon Kenny’s work is increasingly picked up by leading galleries such as Clarendon Fine Art and Whitewall Galleries, pieces of this scale and narrative gravity represent a secure transactional opportunity. This painting offers a robust investment in contemporary expressionism, providing a lasting visual anchor for any world-class collection.
